About this ebook

In The Intimacy You Need, Baggage Reclaim author Natalie Lue takes a deep dive into relationship cycles, and how to build a mutually fulfilling relationship by understanding the five stages of relationships. Lue briefs listeners on how to navigate conflict at these various stages, and how to tell when you’re in a healthy relationship.

In the course, Lue describes how to recognize the four qualities you’re looking for in a relationship (and whether or not you’re modeling those qualities); how to understand each of the five stages of relationships and get started on the road toward building your relationships by understanding them; how to understand conflict in the context of the five stages; how to identify healthy relationships and identify the quality of your own; and more. She also shares exercises along the way so you can begin putting what you’ve learned into practice.

Evidence-based, empathetic, practical, and unique, The Intimacy You Need is a fresh, game-changing way of looking at relationships.

    Introduction

Hello, and welcome to The Intimacy You Need: How to Build Mutually Fulfilling Relationships, a course from Scribd Coach. My name is Natalie Lue. Thank you for joining me. Let’s begin.

Have you ever been in the type of relationship that started out really intense, where you were in a massive whirlwind, then things crashed and burned, leaving you wondering what went wrong? Perhaps, you walked away wondering where that great person you met in the beginning went, just wishing things could just go back to how they were.

Have you found your relationships failing before they take off? Maybe, you’re sick of dating, and you put so much pressure on yourself, hoping that your next date will be your last. It seemingly goes well, and then — no ghosted. Or, suddenly, they remember that they’re not ready for or don’t want a relationship, behave like a different person, or start finding fault with you.

There are many reasons why dating so many of us find dating hard. If you haven’t experienced these examples, you’ve probably experienced another. What’s more is that, whatever you’ve experienced, you’ve experienced it more than once.

If you’ve found yourself in a cycle of disappointment, encountering the same situation over and over again with different people, never passing a certain point in the relationship, then this course is for you. We’re going to talk about intimacy and it’s role in the development of healthy relationships

Throughout four units, I’m going to give you some tools to help you identify the qualities necessary for a mutually fulfilling relationship and how they show up in what I call the five stages of relationships. Among other things, you’ll learn all about how to navigate conflict at these various stages and how to tell when you’re in a healthy relationship.

Before we begin, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I’m Natalie Lue. For nearly two decades, I’ve shared, not just insights and observations from my own journey, but my gift for understanding our patterns, behavior, emotions and relationships, bringing clarity and healing to experiences and situations that people either couldn’t name or describe, or that they thought that they would never get over.

I am the host of my very own podcast, Baggage Reclaim, which has more than 3 million downloads and is read in more than 140 countries. I’m the author (and self-publisher) of five books, Mr Unavailable and the Fallback Girl, The No Contact Rule, The Dreamer and the Fantasy Relationship, Love, Care, Trust and Respect, and The Joy of Saying No, which are all available on Amazon and through my store.

It’s safe to say: I know a hell of a lot about emotional unavailability, emotional baggage, how and why certain patterns are created, and how to unpack this all and reclaim yourself from it so that
